Training Starts Back 6th September
Summer is nearly over which means its almost time to get back on the mat and we're all excited and inspired after seeing the amazing displays at Rio. We'll be open to new recruits in both senior and junior classes starting on September 6th, so if you've been thinking about joining, now is a great time. I always find that energy and enthusiasm brought by a new group of beginners to be inspiring. On the topic of inspiration I've these 3 links for you: i) I've found this nice interview with double Olympic gold medalist Kayla Harrison where she talks about how great Judo is for recreational players in comparison to her own training schedule: http://breakingmuscle.com/…/judo-and-life-from-beginners-to… "When I talk to groups, I try to share with them how transformative judo can be. It’s a great mind-body exercise. I hope it changes someone else’s life like it has changed mine.” ii) Check out our About Judo page for our own take on why we do judo http://kilkennyjudo.weebly.com/about-judo.html iii) And finally, there's this lovely video interviewing judoka to find what they like about it all. As the tag line says, find out why you might love judo by joining in a session on Tuesday nights in Friary hall or just drop down for a chat and to watch a session and see what it's all about. https://vimeo.com/brynreade/whydoyoulikejudo Junior Grading Well done to all our junior members that graded last night. Senior Grading Well done to our seniors that graded recently. Tinah, Julie, Linda, Chaddy and Dylan all got their yellow belts and James got his green belt. Judo Assist Classes are running well and we've recently had the Judo Assist national director, James Mulroy down to run a class. We're inspired by his passion and way with the kids and are looking forward to more time on the mat with you guys. Senior Grading There will be a senior grading early in the new year also. Date to be confirmed. Grab your syllabus from the resources page Welcome Back Happy new year to everyone. We're looking forward to getting our judo suits on and seeing everyone back on the mat at the regular times. Juniors and Seniors start back 13th Jan Judo Assist starts back 20th Jan. Christmas Party! Dates for starting back in 2015: Juniors and Seniors - 13th January Judo Assist - 27th January Shania wins silver at Golden belt Shania travelled to Celbridge at the weekend to take part in the Golden Belt competition and knocked a silver medal out of the experience.
